Gene Packer

Gene Packer has been involved with fencing for nearly 50 years, beginning with a childhood connection with the son of Ralph Goldstein, followed by mentoring by former NYU saber fencer Jo Jochnowitz, college fencing at RPI, and then internationally in Brussels. Originally a member of the AFLA/Hudson-Berkshire Division, Dr. Packer has been involved with NJ fencing for the past 27 years, and has been coaching high school fencing here since 1988, as well as officiating at competitions here and in upstate NY.

He is currently the head coach of the Fair Lawn High School fencing program, and has been a member of the executive committee of the USFA for one year. Dr. Packer is dedicated to the promotion and growth of the sport of fencing, especially for children.
