Anne Strauss-Wieder - Candidate for Vice Chair

I began my involvement with the NJ Division over five years ago as a volunteer and have served as Treasurer for the last two years. As Treasurer, I've resolved incorporation, insurance and tax issues; established financial procedures; and developed the first budgets for the Division in years. The Division is in excellent financial shape and now positioned to reduce the entry fees for qualifiers, which is important in these troubled economic times.

Currently, I am working with the National Office to bring our first NAC to New Jersey - tentatively the December 2009 Division I/Veteran tournament. This is the first step towards getting other major tournaments, such as the Junior Olympics and Summer Nationals scheduled in our area.

I've been at tournaments and clubs throughout the US and overseas, which brings a balanced view and best practices to the NJ Division. I am also on the board of two professional organizations, bringing best practices from those organizations, as well as the Chair of the Parents' Committee for the Gladius Society, which supports fencing at the University of Pennsylvania.
